Four of a Kind Defined

Filed under: Fun, Gambling Wheels, Universe Of Games — admin @ 11:14 am

Four of a kind in online poker occurs when a player’s hand contains all four cards of a single rank, such as 7 7 7 7. The fifth card in the hand, known as the kicker, only plays in the event that both players have the same four of a kind, which could only occur if the event that there are wild cards, or if the four of a kind are all on the community board. Two hands with the same four of a kind would then go to showdown based on who has the highest kicker.

Four of a kind beats all forms of online poker hands except for straight flushes. In the instance that there are two four of a kinds in the same showdown, the hand whose rank value is higher wins the pot (four fours beats four threes, four threes, beats four deuces, etc.).

Another name for four of a kind is commonly quads.

The probability of being dealt quads in a single hand of poker online is roughly 0.024%. Though this is still clearly rare, most regular players likely will make the hand a good number of times in their career. Usually when you do, you can feel the lights turn on inside you, knowing it is almost guaranteed you are going to win the pot.
